HISTORIC®, blown glass
THE PRESTIGE OF ANTIQUE GLASS
DELIVERING A UNIQUE VIBRATION, INSIDE AND OUT
A HIGH-END SOLUTION BY MP VITRAGE
All architecture from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century was marked by the technique of mouth-blown glass. Used in windows, blown glass has imprinted over the centuries a unique vibration and relief, defining the aesthetics of the facades of the time. Over time, technical developments, notably better control of the melting process and raw materials, have gradually transformed the appearance of windows through:
structures, by increasing the size of the tiles to bring more light into the building;
the transparency and tint of the glass, by reducing imperfections (oxides);
the relief and vibration of the glass, through the presence of bubbles and strings of varying importance.
Specializing in glass for windows in historic buildings, MP Vitrage offers a solution for your high-end restoration projects: Historic® glass. Authentic mouth-blown glass, Historic® glass is manufactured by one of the last glass-blowing companies in Europe and processed in our workshop. Cut to size, it is then assembled into double-glazed units for perfect integration into old joinery, or laminated with safety glass, as needed.
The glass processing in our workshop is entirely done by hand, which guarantees quality and costs, while ensuring the most demanding deadlines.
THICKNESSES: 2 mm - 3 mm - 4 mm
DIMENSIONS: 1000 x 800 mm
Historic® glass, by bringing life to the window, restores the charm and prestige of buildings of yesteryear:
- It can be mass-tinted according to a color palette or specially manufactured from a sample (on request).
With a thickness varying from 2 to 4 mm, it offers a wide aesthetic choice, through the more or less significant presence of bubbles and movements in the material.
Among our references: Rodin Museum, Place Vendôme, Château de Versailles, Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, National Archives, Château de Compiègne, as well as numerous private sites.
